Facelift – A youthful face again

Facelift – A youthful face again

Author:Boerhaave

A Facelift for a younger face. You can exercise, maintain a healthy lifestyle or go to bed on time. And you can turn down that third glass of wine. You can do everything possible to keep looking good. But there is one thing you cannot do: prevent yourself from getting older. Even if you live very healthily, you cannot prevent the elasticity of your skin cells from decreasing as the years go by. And unfortunately this does not happen first in the places that remain hidden in everyday social life, but precisely in the face and neck area. The skin of your cheeks becomes slacker, and a little later the signs of ageing also start to show in your neck. So it is very understandable that more and more people are taking advantage of a combined facelift to solve this problem in one go and to see that radiant, youthful face in the mirror that they always used to have.

Lifting a face with a very natural result

Anyone thinking about a facelift may be put off by memories of the film stars of the sixties and seventies. After a facelift, their faces could suddenly look rather unnatural.
Fortunately, that is a thing of the past. The procedure is now so refined that it gives a beautiful and very natural result. The smallest procedure possible in this context is the S-lift, also called a mini lift.
The plastic surgeon makes an S-shaped incision in the skin to lift the cheek. The second option is the so-called MACS lift.

The supporting tissue under the skin is lifted as well

Here the plastic surgeon uses the same incision to lift the skin of the cheek together with the underlying supporting tissue. And the third option is the face/neck lift mentioned above. Here, using an extended incision, the plastic surgeon also performs a neck lift of the slack neck at the same time.

Scar after a facelift

Another enormous improvement in quality in this procedure is that the plastic surgeon now uses Artiss, a tissue glue. He sutures the skin around and behind the ear. This puts tension on the skin, because excess skin has been removed during the procedure. The risk is that the scars then do not heal as nicely. The scar after a facelift should heal as invisibly as possible. By first gluing the underlying tissue in place with Tisseel, much less tension is put on the sutures. As a result, the scars heal much more nicely. Tisseel also prevents small bleeds, so you have a much lower risk of post-operative bleeding. And less tissue fluid forms, which contributes to a faster and better recovery.
