Facelift without surgery

Facelift without surgery

Author:Boerhaave

Who hasn’t heard the saying “Beauty is pain”? Fortunately, for plastic surgery procedures this has long been much less the case than it used to be. Techniques have become so refined that treatments are much more precise and cause much less tissue damage than in the past. As a result, the recovery period after a plastic surgery procedure has been greatly shortened, and the experience of pain has been enormously reduced. Even so, many people are still looking for a facelift without surgery.

Beauty takes thought

A better saying for our times would be: “If you want to be beautiful, think carefully”. Some practitioners offer procedures that seem very attractive at first sight, but on closer inspection really do not turn out to deliver what they promise. The so-called facelift without surgery. A telling example is the so-called “threadlift”, which is currently the subject of so much discussion. This is a cosmetic procedure in which the facial skin is lifted by means of threads. For that reason, the procedure is also called a thread lift.

A facelift is a procedure that requires detailed knowledge of the structure of the human face. Over the years, plastic surgeons have developed the knowledge to perform facelifts that give such a careful and beautiful result that it is hardly, if at all, visible that someone has had a treatment. The plastic surgeons at Boerhaave perform this procedure almost daily and achieve exceptionally good results with it. They work safely and carefully and always stay within the limits of what is responsible. The satisfaction scores of our clients are convincing proof of this.

Being “unpresentable” for a long time after a facelift is a misconception

A widespread misconception about the facelift is that someone would not be “presentable” for a long time after this procedure. With today’s refined techniques, this is absolutely no longer the case. Even so, people go looking for less invasive alternatives. They then end up, for example, with the thread lift, which in some cases is offered as an alternative to a facelift. This is completely unjustified.

Plastic surgeons warn: Thread lift: “Don’t do it!”

With the growing popularity of the thread lift, the number of people who end up coming to the plastic surgeon after all, because the result is hugely disappointing, is also growing. Plastic surgeons who are asked by patients during a consultation whether the thread lift is an interesting option will therefore always say: “Don’t do it”. The effect is disappointing and, moreover, very temporary, because the threads used are dissolvable.

But: those threads are made of the same material as permanent and semi-permanent fillers, some of which have been banned since 2014. That says enough. It is not without reason that plastic surgeons are calling for a ban on the thread lift.
