Utrecht – On Friday 1 October 2021, the festive start of construction of the Boerhaave Clinic in Utrecht took place. With a firm press of the red button, Alderman Klaas Verschuure (Spatial Development, Leidsche Rijn) gave the symbolic go-ahead for construction on the plot at Hertogswetering 2 in Utrecht. The new medical centre is located in the ‘healthcare cluster’ of Business Park De Wetering-Haarrijn and is therefore a fine addition to the other healthcare providers there, such as the Antonius Hospital.
The festive start of construction of Boerhaave on the Hertogswetering was attended by the neighbouring businesses, representatives of the Municipality of Utrecht, Business Park De Wetering-Haarrijn, Ondernemersfonds Utrecht, the Willy Naessens construction team and the Boerhaave management team. Alderman Klaas Verschuure stressed the importance of Boerhaave establishing itself at Business Park De Wetering-Haarrijn: “We are pleased that Boerhaave has chosen Utrecht and that a great location has been found. It is also wonderful that the centre gives MBO (vocational) students the opportunity to gain work experience. Alongside the many medical institutions in our city, the centre is a good addition to that range.’’ said the alderman.
Ilse van Waardenburg, clinic manager at Boerhaave, says proudly: “This is a historic moment for us. Our wish was to position our second location (the current location is in Amsterdam) centrally in the country, where a lot of suitable staff can be reached and where we can easily travel back and forth between the locations (within 25 minutes). That is how we eventually arrived at this extremely suitable location in Utrecht, which is very easy for patients and staff to reach by public transport, bicycle and car.”
Thomas Bernhardt, the architect from Network of Architects & Planners responsible for the construction of the medical centre, adds: “The new building has a green heart. The sustainable structure has been designed around a central courtyard garden, around which all the care functions are arranged. This allows patients and staff to enjoy maximum tranquillity and views of greenery in this urban setting.” In Utrecht, Boerhaave will offer the highest quality of care and the full range of plastic surgery treatments. Completion of the medical centre is scheduled for autumn 2022.
Boerhaave is the largest clinic in the Netherlands in the field of plastic surgery. Attention to the patient and the patient's wishes are central to what we do. Every body is unique, which is why every treatment plan is personal. By taking our time and listening to individual wishes, we can provide personalised care. In this way, we want to make a positive contribution to our patients' self-confidence.
We are the only clinic in the whole of the Netherlands with a plastic surgeon present every day, which means patients can come to us 365 days a year, both before and after treatment. We strive for improvement every day and hope to reach even more people in 2022 with our new location in Utrecht.
