Renuvion (skin tightening)

Your first consultation will always be with the plastic surgeon who will be treating you. During this consultation, you’ll discuss what bothers you about your back, armpits, and/or flanks, and what you’d like to change.

The plastic surgeon will review your medical history and examine your upper body. Based on this, you’ll discuss which surgical technique is most appropriate and what you can expect from the treatment.

At the end of the consultation, everything will be summarized in a personalized treatment plan. The associated costs will also be discussed with you. This ensures you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Afterward, you’ll have a meeting with your consultant. She’ll tell you more about the practical details and how to prepare for your treatment.

Liposuction is a popular cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat from specific areas of the body. Although liposuction is effective for fat removal, it cannot significantly tighten the skin on its own. This is where Renuvion comes in. By applying Renuvion immediately after liposuction, the doctor can tighten the skin in the areas where fat has been removed, resulting in a smoother and more defined body contour.

During the treatment, small incisions of about 5 mm are made, followed by the injection of anesthetic fluid under the skin via a thin cannula. After a 15- to 30-minute waiting period, liposuction can be performed if necessary. Next, the Renuvion cannula is inserted through the same opening, allowing energy to be delivered to the tissue. This energy, combined with heat and radiofrequency waves, leads to the tightening of both the subcutaneous fat tissue and the skin. Plasma energy is precisely directed through the collagen network of the subcutaneous fat and the skin, causing the underlying connective tissue to contract and the skin to tighten. In addition, this energy stimulates the formation of new collagen, resulting in long-lasting improvements for up to 9 months after treatment.

After the procedure, you can expect some swelling and bruising, which will subside within a few days to weeks. Most patients can resume their normal activities within a few days, although it is important to avoid strenuous activity until full recovery has been achieved.

After treatment, a compression bandage is applied to the treated area for at least 4 weeks to support the healing process.

The Renuvion treatment results in firmer skin and improved contours, with long-lasting effects due to the stimulation of collagen production for up to 9 months after the procedure.

Every treatment carries risks. The most common risks associated with Renuvion treatment include infections, swelling, bruising, and scarring, although these are generally minor. Asymmetry in the treated areas may also occur, and sometimes there may be uneven skin texture or irregular contours, especially if too much fat is removed. After the treatment, the treated area may be temporarily numb.
